University Circle, Cleveland, Ohio
Meade and Garfield, LS Architects
The Krueger Group was the Design/Builder for the renovation of this 100-year-old home that was designed by the Abram Garfield, the youngest son of President James A. Garfield. Built for S. Livingston Mather, the Sally and Bob Gries Center for Experiential and Service Learning is located in the University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.
Formerly a 10,480 square foot mansion with 11 bedrooms, the Gries Center is now an 11,410 square foot, 7 classroom, extension of the lower and upper school campuses with state of the art audio/visual and wi-fi capabilities. Included in the scope of work was the modernization of all mechanical systems, full exterior rehabilitation and a 930 square foot addition at the rear of the house to accommodate Hawken's 1000+ staff and students.
With tremendous care and respect taken in maintaining the architectural integrity of this Cleveland landmark, the Gries Center serves as The Krueger Group's 3rd successful addition to Magnolia Dr., and what University Circle Inc. is calling "Education Row."+ The Plain Dealer's article about this project.
