For the first private Montessori high school in the country, Montessori Development Partnership chose The Krueger Group to build a high school campus like no other in the cultural center of Cleveland, Ohio.
Since opening in 2007, the Montessori High School at University Circle's campus has grown to include seven buildings on Univeristy Circle's "Education Row," accomodating an international student body and growing enrollment.  During the first phase of construction, the following scope of work was executed between May and September:
  • For the school building, the beautiful 10,730 square feet Straub Mansion, designed by Charles Schweinfurth, was restored and transformed into an award winning, 8-classroom facility complete with an art studio, warming kitchen, library, ample office space, and musical instrument practice carrels.
  • The adjoining carriage house was completely gutted and renovated into a state of the art science lab with radiant floor heat, geothermal heating and cooling, photovoltaic electricity, an acid neutralization tank, laboratory hood and attached greenhouse.
  • The adjacent, Otis Mansion was converted from a three family house into a dormitory for male and female boarding students and house parents.
Several years after the school opened, the renovation of the Ferris House and its adjoining coach house by The Krueger Group was completed adding a dining hall, classroom space, a larger art studio, a theater hall and dorm rooms.  Additionally, the third floor was built out as the new home to the Hershey Montessori Training Institute.
